Police Drop Investigation into CEO Following BSQ Legal Submissions

In another positive result for BSQ’s Private Crime department, a police investigation into serious allegations against our client—a company CEO—has been formally discontinued.

The case involved claims of coercive and controlling behaviour, including allegations with sexual overtones, made by a former partner. BSQ’s Patrick O’Hanlon led the defence, preparing detailed written representations on behalf of our client.

BSQ argued that the evidence did not meet the evidential threshold set out in the Crown Prosecution Service’s Code for Crown Prosecutors. We also brought to light a history of previous, unsubstantiated allegations made against our client, which further undermined the credibility of the complaint.

After considering our submissions, the police decided not to proceed with any criminal charges.

By challenging the allegations at the pre-charge stage, we were able to protect our client’s reputation and avoid the considerable personal and professional harm that can result from a criminal prosecution.

BSQ’s Private Crime team specialises in representing professionals facing serious and sensitive accusations. Our work is discreet, thorough, and focused on achieving the best possible resolution—whether that means avoiding charge altogether or securing a not guilty verdict in court.

If you are under investigation or have been accused of a criminal offence, particularly involving allegations of a sexual or sensitive nature, please contact our London office for confidential advice and expert representation.
