In proceedings before HHJ Hawes KC at the Southwark Crown Court on the 29th September 2025, Yadi Zhang (also known as Zhimin Qian) entered guilty pleas to two counts of money laundering related to the seizure of 61,000 bitcoin now valued at more than £5bn. The Court has listed her sentencing for 10–11 November 2025. Until that hearing, Ms Zhang remains remanded in custody.
Ms Zhang is represented by BSQ Partner, Roger Sahota who stated:
“By pleading guilty today, Ms Zhang hopes to bring some comfort to investors who have waited since 2017 for compensation, and to reassure them that the significant rise in cryptocurrency values means there are more than sufficient funds available to repay their losses.”
