Matthew Elkins
Professional Experience
Matt currently mainly deals with complex, high value cases and also civil restraint and confiscation proceedings stemming from these matters. In addition Matt deals with more general crime, including possession of drugs, theft and sexual offences.
Matt has experience of defending prosecutions bought by HMRC, the SFO, FACT, the FSA, local authorities, and the organised crime and fraud divisions of the CPS. Matt also has experience of submitting suspicious activity reports to SOCA for clients involved in transactions suspected to involve money laundering.
Prior to Joining BSB, Matt was a graduate teaching assistant at the University of Geneva and also a visiting lecturer at the University of Plymouth in international law. He also worked as an intern at UNAIDS and the International Commission of Jurists in Geneva.
Matt is fluent in French and also has a grounding in French Patois.
